There are many times of the year when you might consider it a good idea to send flowers. Obviously, the most popular day on the calendar to send flowers is Valentine’s Day. Sending flowers or other gifts on the 14^th February is in celebration of  Saint Valentine, who was canonized (given a sainthood) by the Catholic Church for what is believed to be for his service as a Priest.

A more devilish story is the legend of Valentine’s day first began after a young Valentine was imprisoned and in love with his jailors daughter. Before being put to death, it is believed that Valentine sent his young lover a card which simply read “From your Valentine”, these words are still used today.

Another reason to send flowers could be to celebrate a birthday. There is nothing quite like receiving a beautiful bouquet of flowers on your birthday, the sight and smell can make even the most strong hearted go weak at the knees. If you’re lucky enough to be sent flowers whilst you are at work in your office, your colleagues will react with both envy and happiness, as they both share your special day and secretly wish they had received flowers also.

Other times to send flowers would be in times of celebration or commiseration. Often flowers are sent to cheer someone up. Like a beautiful sunny day can often make you feel happy and joyful inside, flowers often have the same impact. This is why they are often given to people who are unwell or are recovering from an illness or operation.

There are many different ways to send flowers depending on your budget and taste. Many people will use the Internet or a telephone service to contact a flower company, they will then order a specific bouquet and request that the company send the flowers to a specific address. These types of flower delivery companies often specialize in sending mail order flowers and gifts, so often they will deliver the flowers either next day or within two days. This makes sending flowers a great choice for even the most forgetful amongst us.
